The idea for my ignorant bike rides comes from a deep longing to travel to brand new places and experience the heightened sense of awareness you get when in a new environment. Through an art making process, I want to engage the residents of a particular town and create an intimate situation where I can share my discoveries with strangers by re-introducing them to their own city with a bike ride led by myself.

The bike ride has no destination, no pre-planning and consists of a spontaneous
route guided by intuition and chance. There will be documentation of the people participating and of the places we end up going to along the way.

How will I get participants?

I've always been fascinated with flyers as a means of communication, from punk rock cut and paste xeroxed flyers to "Lost Dog" announcements on telephone poles and so it seems like the most logical way to get participants for my bike rides. I will plaster the town with flyers stating that I have never been here before and that I am willing to meet up with a total stranger and get lost with them on bikes. With my cell phone number on the flyer I could be contacted at anytime and make arrangements with that person on where to meet up and when.

about the artist

Lately Sto has been interested in getting lost on bike rides, making forts to
crawl into, handing out slices of toxic colored cake, drawing portraits of African
Tribesmen, wearing superhero outfits, and running an art space in Brooklyn called
Cinders.
