For our project, Tristan will tour James around his life in Providence, attempting to transmit his interaction with the city. James' tour of the city will, in effect, be a mix of immediate discovery that will be overlaid with Tristan's memory. Simultaneously, Tristan's memory will be overlaid by the immediate experience of inhabiting the geographic location of the memory. This experience, taking place on the 25th and 26th of May 2005, will be documented with digital photos, drawings, text, measurements, field recordings and object collection. These documentation materials will then be displayed as a slideshow and assemblage of drawing, text and objects, to continue the cycle of processing memory through the public's experience with the materials.

about the artists

Tristan Jeffers constantly tries to see through the barrier between words and meaning, but predictably fails. He is currently wrapping up an internship with Trinity Repertory Company's Mabel T. Woolley Literary Department. When not sorting through script proposals, Tristan likes to run fully clothed through the streets and poke sticks with rocks.

James Orsher enjoys performance art, obsessive, iterative processes, performing and composing experimental music and using intuition to subvert intuition. He is currently a Music Composition and Integrated Media MFA candidate at the California Institute of the Arts. In his free time he enjoys producing concerts, playing amplified cactus and cooking.
