My proposal is based on the compass. At the end of Blackstone Boulevard there is a large granite fountain (now dry) that has the points of the compass built in to the design. The four directions are sacred in earth religion.

I have participated in the Convergence chalk painting festival for four years, and it’s fun and easy to make a round design in chalk. I will mark off a circle, four by four feet, and delineate the four points of the compass. The inside of the circle will have an image appropriate to the location of the design, and the outside border will have the words, "you are here".

I will use stencils and water-based, biodegradable spray paint and chalk. The designs will be impermanent, but hopefully will give direction to all those who gradually walk it away.
