The project
deals with unused urban spaces as beds for agriculture. The idea stems from
myprotest of overconsumption and my interest in world peak oil production
and what consequences this will have on urban areas and
means of production. My largest contention within this argument is that natural
resources, such as natural gas and crude oil, will become so expensive that
it will drive the price of basic transportation through the roof, resulting
in the inflation of many products. For instance, a dozen ears of corn that
were grown in Iowa cost $3 in Michigan, but with the oil production in 20,
30, 40 years the price of 12 ears of corn may cost $30.
The project is manifested in hand sewn burlap bags that contain a book of postcards of pictures of potential places for agrifitti to take place, as well as seeds.
