City Projects: Text Messages :: Eric Scott Nelson
Saturday, July 14 :: 3-5p :: FooFlux
I plan to spell two words (to be discovered as the game progresses) which will be overlapped in the city blocks a short distance the FooFlux festivities. I will recruit and divide all of the attendees of the festival that are in this area into two groups that will represent one or the other of these words. Each group will be unaware of what word the other group is spelling. Simultaneously starting at different points, the two groups will walk out the assigned word using two different maps that I have created to direct their route. While walking, each group’s conversation must use/ define/ relate to their given word. Participants may change groups as they intersect but must continue the dialogue of their original group.The excitement comes in seeing the intersections where the two groups cross paths, and hearing the the sound and dialogue as they merge. I will document the event with video and sound, to be available for veiwing online after the walk. The words for this project will be based on the nature of the festival and the location in which the walk will take place.

Fuseable Currency :: Anna Shapiro
Thursday, July 12 :: 2-6p :: Steel Yard Home Base
This is is a trash-art found-glass work workshop for a day. Using bottlecaps (metal) and broken glass (of any color or kind) we will make small bits of currency using glass shards and putting then into bottlecaps or onto other metal and firing them in a kiln for a few days. The finished items will be available to take home on Sunday, July 15, and can be picked up at the Steel Yard Home Base. These items can be used to trade in villages where money doesn't count- such as Burning Man, Rainbow Gathering or any other subversive countercultural event where greenbacks, blue back or orange backs are not "allowed". Fuseable Currency can also front as jewelry. Come make, find, bring, trade, and raise your glass to toast your own creative "economy"!

Psycho-Geo-Cache :: Quinn Corey
Ongoing :: Inquire at Hubs
The Psycho-Geo-Cache project is part scavenger hunt, part derive (transient drifting through space). Based on the GPS reliant Geo-Cache game which calls people to explore their environment in search of a cache of prizes while honing in on them with a combination of clues and GPS locations, the Psycho-Geo-Cache game calls on people to use the clues and maps in tandem with their own intuition and impulses (not a GPS). Located in the city of Providence are 9 Psycho-Geo-Caches, each one is a large blue cannister filled with unique art and prizes for participants to share and enjoy, but the real reward is in the search. Take to the streets and keep yours eyes and minds open because the clue you need or the cache you're looking for could be right in front of you. Good Luck and keep on wandering.

Recess Romping Foursquare Funtime :: Anusha Venkataraman
Friday, July 13 :: noon-2p :: Promenade St. pedestrian bridge
When was the last time you played foursquare? Yup, the staple game of elementary schoolyards returns to the city streets, for kids both young and old. Use your lunch break to test your skills with the big rubber ball as we gather for a romping good time!
