Dirt
samples were taken at each site for chemical analysis
and firing potential. Once a cross-section of the dirt had been taken and
a reading of its chemical make-up had been performed, the dirt was placed
in lidded ceramic vessels, or saggars, with approximately one to two hundred
hand-made porcelain figurines.
